The police will physically take a license when arresting someone for DUI. We help get it back.

What to Know if Arrested for DUI in Redondo Beach

What court do I go to if arrested in Redondo Beach?

If you were arrested for DUI in Redondo Beach, the case will be heard at the Torrance Courthouse (Southwest Division), located at 825 Maple Ave., Torrance CA 90503.  Unless someone was seriously injured it should be a misdemeanor case, which means your arraignment will take place in Department 3, on the Second Floor.

Who Prosecutes DUI Cases in Redondo Beach?

Unlike many other cities where the District Attorney handles all crimes, Redondo Beach has its own City Prosecutor. This is a significant distinction because the City Prosecutor’s office has its own specific policies regarding plea bargains, like when they agree to dismiss the DUI and offer a "Wet Reckless" instead per Vehicle Code 23103/23103.5.

At Beach Cities DUI we have been forming plea bargains with the Redondo Beach City Prosecutor Office for over 20 years.  We know how to handle these cases and how to get the best results.

What is the Pink Paper I Received from Redondo Beach Police?

The pink piece of paper is a temporary license, formally called a DS-367 form.  This temporary license is good for 30 days from the date of arrest.  However, a person arrested has only 10 days to stop an automatic suspension.

Do I Appear in Court or the DMV if I Have a Lawyer?

Pursuant to Penal Code Section 977, attorneys can appear on behalf of clients.  Therefore you will not need to appear for your court hearing if you have a lawyer.  Additionally, at Beach Cities DUI, we will handle all the communication with the DMV, which includes stopping the automatic suspension and handling the DMV hearing.  Basically, an attorney can handle everything for the client.
